The beautiful land of northern Illinois produces some of the world's finest hardwood trees, so I prefer to use local  hardwoods such as Black Walnut and Cherry for my pieces. I am fortunate to have an ongoing relationship with Johnson Creek Hardwoods, a small saw mill in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Their expertise in wood and forestry is outstanding and their selection of domestic hardwoods is second-to-none. All of their lumber originates from either their own privately managed timbers, naturally felled trees, or urban tree removals. Once harvested, the tree is then carefully milled and dried by a master sawyer. What sets Johnson Creek Hardwoods apart is the pride they take in their craft. They are truly masters in their field, which is why I go to them to obtain all of the solid lumber for my projects.
